FLUX

‘Flux’ is a modern take on the traditional tattoo studio. We aim to have more people getting more tattoos, more often. With an amazing team of talented artists, state of the art equipment and processes that let people test and trial designs before getting them; We are able to ensure that our customers get exactly what they want for each tattoo.

The space is open and inviting, encouraging people to enter the store, look through designs & equipment and speak to our tattoo artists without having a prior appointment or the added pressure of getting a tattoo.

We provide people the opportunity to learn more about the process of tattooing, thoroughly plan out their tattoo designs, master tattooing for themselves through workshops, purchase tattoo machines and equipment, and trial designs on their skin before getting them for real.

Flux is the first tattoo studio offering clients the new semi-permanent ink created by Ephemeral. This ink is applied exactly the same as traditional tattoo inks but is designed to fade from skin roughly a year after application. It can also be removed sooner in the same way it’s applied by tattooing over the design with Ephemerals removal solution. This revolutionary invention completely changes the game for tattooists and their clients and provides people a way to get tattooed without the concern of a lifetime commitment.

Tattoo for yourself - browse a range of tattoo equipment for sale or take part in one of our tattoo workshops suitable for beginners through to the experts

Tattoo Machines

22.09.16

I plan for the studio to sell tattoo products to further promote tattooing and encourage more people to take an interest in it. I've been doing some research into tattoo machines and equipment and where these can be bought from currently. Most of the equipment is surprisingly affordable but there is little information available to people around what they would need or what would be the best option for them. I discovered both 'Tattoo Warehouse' in Auckland and 'Lucky Supply' in Upper Hutt as existing businesses that sell a range of tattoo supplies but both have a lack of information for people who are unfamiliar with the industry.

Final Logo

21.09.16

This is the final logo design for FLUX tattoo studio. I chose to use the hourglass as I felt that it better represented the brand. I still intend to use the chameleon concept within digital and physical promotional material because of it's aesthetic qualities.

Some more logo experiments with a chameleon image that I sketched before editing in photoshop.

Gif trial

08.09.16

I created some more gifs of a turning hourglass. I think this could also be an effective logo for the brand as it represents time, change and something finite. It also fits into the name well and can replace the 'X' from FLUX.

Artist Model

06.09.16

I found an artist online that I'd like to use as an influence for the revised design of my branding and logo. Shane Turner is a designer and painter from Montreal, Canada. His modern artworks combine elements of comics, graffiti, music, street art and pop art. The things that appealed to me from his artworks are the use of high contrast, bright and fluorescent colours and the sharp lines used in his paintings.

Logo

02.09.16

I created a Gif which I think could be a engaging way to showcase the brand online. After the feedback I received before the break I'm considering a new logo design and several people commented on the chameleon image. These examples use existing images but for my design I plan to create the logo from scratch.

I've also considered using an hourglass as the logo for my brand. This fits with the theme of a tattoo studio using semipermanent ink and is a strong visual for the brand. It could also be used as the letter 'X' in the name FLUX.
